Church FAQs
What do I have to provide?
For a week of camp, we ask you to provide a main contact person, the facility, adult volunteers, a small snack for your campers and lots of energetic kids ages 6 to 11! We may also ask you to provide housing for the team (4-6 people), this can be either with home stays or at your church.
How many volunteers are needed?
We ask for a ratio of one adult volunteer (18 years and older) for every six campers to aid in the safety and overall experience of each camper.
What does the cost include?
The cost of camp includes four professionally trained and experienced staff, all camp materials as well as promotional tools to recruit campers! Because we offer many different camp options with specific pricing, it can be overwhelming to see our entire pricing guide. Give us a call and we can talk through which camp option would be the best fit for your church and the pricing for that camp.
What happens during a typical day?
The SportsLife Camp day is not a typical camp day. Campers will have fun singing, moving and learning all in the name of Jesus. SportsLife Camps staff, as well as volunteers from your church, will lead campers. For additional information visit the Typical Day section of our website or watch our Video.
What is the theme for 2010?
While SportsLife Camps promises outrageous fun for all, we take seriously the opportunity to share the life-changing story of Jesus. Our innovative program curriculum presents a simple and inviting Gospel message. We invite campers to explore with us what it means to know and follow Jesus as they not only see and hear what the Bible has to say, but participate in the story in creative and engaging ways. We are excited to give you the opportunity during camp to speak further with the campers about the day's message in light of traditions, beliefs or any other aspect of your church that you wish to connect with. We are happy to make room in the schedule for you to do so! Visit our Program Curriculum section of our website for specific theme information.
Is SportsLife Camps like a Vacation Bible School?
While SportsLife Camps shares certain elements of a VBS, such as Bible-based learning and activities, it is an innovative camp model by having:
- Action-packed experiential learning and a mix of activities that is integrated and delivered in a truly unique way by trained staff that brings expertise and builds an atmosphere of outrageous fun!
- Flexibility in allowing each camper to customize their camp experience by choosing a preferred sport or art to develop their skills in.
- Curriculum that is designed to free leaders and volunteers, the primary faith-builders of kids, of planning and responsibilities so that they can connect with campers during the week.
What is a Main Event and Side Show?
Main Events time of camp is where campers participate in a specific sport or art of their choice. During that hour campers will also participate in huddle time where they will hear a short story from their coach relating to the theme of the day. Some Main Event examples are: basketball, soccer, dance and art. Your church will choose what Main Events are offered. Side Shows are wild, wacky, and creative activities that encourage laughter and silliness. Having large amounts of fun is the goal of Side Show time. Some Side Show examples are: Capture the Noodle and Tennis Ball Mania.
